Constantly seeking change and evolution, Namaka are unafraid to reinvent themselves with every recording. Their music feels like a living, breathing entity – always in motion, effortlessly shifting between analog and digital, organic and mechanical states.

 

Following the release of their two EPs, Apron Ties and Water On The Sun, Namaka unveiled their debut album, Restore, in November 2021. Created during an emotionally challenging time, the album revealed their ability to transform raw vulnerability into bold sound explorations.

 

In September 2025, Namaka will release their second album, Cloudspotting. Written, produced, and recorded between Zurich and Brussels, using a tape recorder and a laptop, the album draws inspiration from artists such as Nabihah Iqbal, Tirzah, Mica Levi, and Elliott Smith. Cloudspotting takes a low-key stroll through Namaka’s sonic playground. E-bass melodies melt into ambient episodes, while synthesizers lazily drift over drums that resonate as though recorded in a dripstone cave. The vocals - both sung and spoken - effortlessly float above the music, deeply honest, intimate, and haunting.

 

Cloudspotting is like lying in the grass or on a warm rooftop, watching clouds float by and letting your thoughts wander. Tuning out the relentless societal noise that overwhelms us with expectations and demands. Instead, this album serves as a call to daydream – an activity that is, by the way, truly underrated – and gives the perfect soundtrack for a cool walk toward self-empowerment.
